As a self-confessed “anti-Mac’ snob, I was interested to see this article from the BBC describing the activity of malicious programs against Mac computers. I particularly like this line:
“Java's developer, Oracle, issued a fix to the vulnerability on 14 February, but this did not work on Macintoshes as Apple manages Java updates to its computers.
Apple released its own "security update" on Wednesday - more than eight weeks later....”
It was the boast at one time that “Macs don’t get viruses” – but that was only because almost no one was using them and it wasn’t worth the trouble to make the i-Mal programs. The good news may be that many are now buying into the i-Myth, but the bad news is that they’re no different from PCs really. So welcome to the world of viruses and malware and updates, and scams!
